Bishop
Anthony K. King, Sr. is a native of Detroit, MI. He is the youngest of
seven children born to the late Willie and Helen King. He was reared in
the House of God Church, Keith Dominion. He was baptized with the Holy
Ghost and Fire on January 14, 1980.
As a
youth in church Bishop King enjoyed working in various areas. In his
untiring work in the church he served as a choir member, usher, Jr.
Deacon, secretary, trustee, Youth Leader, Director of Christian
Education, Sunday School Teacher, treasurer, and superintendent.
Bishop
King confessed his call into the ministry and preached his Trial Sermon
on March 22, 1992. The subject was “I’m a Soldier of the Cross.”
Ephesians 6:10-18 &2 Timothy 2:1-4. Shortly after preaching his Trial
Sermon, he set off to help build churches in Watertown, NY and
Frankfort, KY.
In
October 1996, he was exalted to an Elder and appointed Associate Pastor
of New Life Worship Center, in Richmond, KY. He left Richmond, KY to
help build churches in Knoxville, TN, Lexington & Louisville, KY, and
Blue Ash, OH.
In
August 1999, Bishop King returned to Detroit to care for his ailing
mother. As he cared for his mother, he attended the Joy Road Band of
House of God Church. It was here; he became passionately known as, “The
Resident Bible Scholar.”
In May
2001, Bishop King answered the Higher Calling to build and pastor Holy
City of God Christian Fellowship, Inc. God showed him a vision a city
of Believers living and functioning in the fullness of their potential
in God. As he saw this vision, he heard God’s voice saying, “Lead my
People unto Perfection.” (Hebrews 6:1b) This became Bishop King’s theme
and mission.
On
March 15, 2003, God blessed Bishop King to marry the love of his life,
the Elder Natasha M. Booker. With great joy, they work closely together
in ministry and in the up building of God’s Kingdom.
On
January 14, 2006, on his Spiritual birthday, Bishop King was consecrated
in the Holy office of Bishop. Immediately following his consecration he
began to travel the country encouraging pastors and churches to “Go on
to Perfection.” It is on this premise that he destroys Satan’s notion
that, “Nobody’s perfect.”
In
October 2006 Bishop King was elected Global Presiding Bishop of the
Maranatha Divine Global Ministries, Inc. Along with this appointment,
Bishop King has the mandate to take the message, “Let Us Go On To
Perfection” to the nations.
Bishop
King holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with emphasis on
Management Information Technology from Cleary University in Howell
Michigan. He looks forward to furthering his education by pursuing his
Master’s in Divinity.
